Overview
Death and Decision is a multiplayer social strategy game currently in active development. It reimagines the social deduction genre—unlike traditional games where eliminated players sit idle, here The Dead become active participants who ultimately decide the winner. Every elimination matters, every alliance has consequences, and the jury is always watching.
Game Mechanics
Round Cycle
Each round flows through four distinct phases:
- Deliberation: Players strategize, form alliances, and prepare for what's to come
- Trial: Face accusations and defend yourself before your peers
- Reckoning: The vote is cast and someone faces elimination
- Decision: The eliminated player joins The Dead, gaining new powers
The Heat System
Private messages generate Heat. Accumulate too much and you'll be Silenced, unable to send private messages. Manage your social connections carefully.
Secret Actions
Each round, players choose from 8 secret actions:
- Lay Low: Reduce your Heat and stay under the radar
- Search: Discover hidden information about other players
- Bond: Strengthen alliances and build trust
- Sabotage: Undermine another player's actions
- Protect: Shield yourself or an ally from harm
- Gift: Share resources or information
- Scavenge: Gather resources for future rounds
- Mingle: Gather social intelligence from multiple players
Trials & Immunity
Players can bid for Immunity using accumulated resources. The bidding system creates tense moments where you must weigh survival against future power.
The Underworld
When eliminated, players enter The Dead and gain access to:
- Wagers: Bet on outcomes to earn Spirit Points
- Haunts: Influence the living world in subtle ways
- Spirit Points: Currency for underworld actions and the Final Judgment
Character Stats
Four core stats define your playstyle:
- Social: Influence conversations and build alliances
- Perception: Detect lies and hidden information
- Stealth: Perform actions without detection
- Discipline: Resist manipulation and maintain composure
Final Judgment
When only the finalists remain, The Dead deliberate and cast their votes. Every player you eliminated, every alliance you broke, every promise you kept or betrayed—it all comes back in the Final Judgment.
Design Philosophy
Death and Decision is built on the belief that eliminated players shouldn't become spectators. By giving The Dead meaningful agency, every player remains engaged until the very end, and the social dynamics extend beyond elimination.
